Hello, blogosphere!!

Here I am, starting my blog back up as I plan to spend 7 weeks abroad this summer and naturally, I have to document my experience for anyone who may care back home :) First of all, LOLzing at my first post. Wow, so much has changed since then and I feel like I have grown like 36 years older (because I am so much wiser) (but really). I still have great friends, a great family and a pretty cool boyfriend but there is so much else I have gained to be thankful for since then!

To name a few:

-I am studying abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark for 7 weeks this summer. I am so excited to go somewhere off the beaten path. Not that London or Paris aren't wonderful cities, but as an aspiring hipster, I try to deter myself from the clichés ;) I am so excited for the opportunity to study something I love (graphic design) in a city that I have heard repeatedly is one of the  most pleasant in the world. And I am so excited to be immersed in such a happy, friendly culture with such great style! Seriously though! Everything they have is so stylish! Clothes, signage, architecture! I am already so inspired as a designer and I haven't even been there yet! More exclamation points!!

-This past year (I just finished my sophomore year at Purdue), I have grown so much as a professional. I began this year very unsure of my major and have ended it more confident and passionate and excited than ever. Design has become more than my major... it has become a part of my life in ways I can't even describe. I may not be the best (yet.. but hey! I am still learning!) but I am loving every second of it. I became very active in Purdue's student chapter of the American Advertising Federation and the National Student Advertising Competition. So active in fact, that I was nominated as president! I am beyond excited to have the pleasure of working with such a fun exec board and I am already totally immersing myself into the position. Additionally, I began an internship with a super cool B2B marketing agency called Right Hat where I have already learned so much of the design world that I feel is often neglected. Many people dream of doing marketing and advertising for Fortune 500 companies but they forget that the business people need to have well designed materials too. I am so thankful for the opportunity to work there, even if it hasn't been that long. I also got an internship for next year with the Purdue Center for Career Opportunities (Purdue CCO) as a Marketing & Media intern which will be interesting to work as an in-house marketer. I think that job will be right up my alley because I am sort of career-obsessed (I think I have been since I was young). I am very anxious to get back to my life at Purdue after what I know will be an amazing summer! It is a good life I live at such an amazing school. Boiler up!

-Oh yeah, I guess since I keep mentioning being a graphic designer, I guess I should mention that I was actually accepted to Purdue's Visual Communication Design program. After several weeks of stressing out and trying to perfect my portfolio, it paid off, because my review with the upper level professors went better than I could have ever imagined and seeing the "congratulations" at the top of my decision letter took a huge weight of my shoulders. I am very excited to learn more next year!

That was just to name a few though. Anyways, life is good right now and I am excited to document my adventures in Denmark this summer, even if nobody reads them except me. I know I'll thank myself later :)

Also, sorry for my horrible sentence structuring in this blog for any English critics reading. Us millenials, Instant Messaging and texting has RUINED us ;)

Well, ciao world!

Until Denmark,

Bean
